Bele plombe ili, stručno rečeno, kompozitne ispune koristimo da nadoknadimo deo zuba koji nedostaje usled oštećenja zuba nastalog zbog pojave karijesa, ili manjeg loma.
Bele plombe imaju dve najznačajnije prednosti u odnosu na stare, crne, amalgamske plombe, a to su estetika i štednja zubnog tkiva.
Kompozitne plombe se specijalnim tehnikama lepe za preostali deo zuba, te je za njihovu postavku dovoljno samo ukloniti karijes, dok sa crnim plombama to nije tako. Prilikom postavke crnih plombi potrebno je ukloniti i veliki deo zdravog zubnog tkiva da bi se postavila plomba koja neće ispasti, s obzirom na to da se crne plombe ne lepe za zub, nego samo čvrsto nabiju u napravljeni otvor u zubu.
Budući da se bele plombe proizvode u širokoj paleti nijansi i transparencije, u prilici smo da u potpunosti izimitiramo boju gotovo svakog zuba, tako da se teško može primetiti prelaz između plombe i zuba, dok je estetika crnih plombi danas potpuno neprihvatljiva, naročito na zubima koji su u vidljivoj regiji.

Ponekad nakon postavljanja plombe zub može biti osetljiv prilikom žvakanja ili na termičke nadržaje. Ovakvo stanje može da potraje par dana, međutim, ukoliko se stanje prolongira, potrebno je javiti se stomatologu.
Najčešći uzrok osetljivosti je kvar zuba, koji se suviše približio živcu. U ovom slučaju osetljivost se javlja kao odgovor na iritaciju prilikom uklanjanja karijesa. Ovakva osetljivost bi trebalo da prođe za najviše nedelju dana. Ukoliko se osetljivost ne smanji ili pak pojačava, potrebno je javiti se stomatologu, koji će proceniti da li zub treba endodontski tretirati.
Ukoliko je zub osetljiv samo na zagrižaj, često je problem u kontaktu nove plombe i zuba suprotne vilice. Potrebno je obratiti se stomatologu, koji će utvrditi mesto na kojem je najjači pritisak, a zatim ukloniti deo plombe koji smeta. Poboljšanje će biti vidno već istoga dana.
